About me...

My creative journey...

I think it’s safe to say the creative blood comes from my mom’s side of the family. My mom paints, quilts, and has at least 7 different “fonts” she can write in on command. If I go back another generation, you will find my Grandmother, and she designed and sewed beautiful wedding dresses as a side job while raising her kids.

My creative journey started later on in life.

During a trip to Nome back in 2015, my mom pulled out some watercolors, and I successfully copied a watercolor painting I had found on Pinterest.

And when I say copied…I mean flower for flower, no creative input on my end.

Thankfully, after one fluke of success, I was hooked.  However, my triumphant start quickly evolved into many wasted sheets of paper and frustration.

The paper wasn’t really wasted, but it seemed like it at the time.

When I had my first baby in 2016, I needed a creative outlet and a way to learn and grow–values I’ve since learned are highly important to me, along with community and adventure.

Painting checked all of the boxes, so I began to turn to it more and more, especially when the cold dark Alaskan winters rolled on in.  I would toss most of what I created, but slowly, as the communication between my hand and brain improved, art started to accumulate under the storage space in our couch.

In the spring of 2019, I sold my first painting to my friend Anne, who, being an artist herself, insisted on giving me money for what I had told her to take for free.  Later on that year, I donated two of my pieces to the yearly YoungLife auction and was astonished when they helped raise money for the program. From there the wheels started turning–  could this passion and stack of paintings underneath my couch actually evolve into something profitable and even sustaining?

Finding the guts to show what you create and face acceptance or rejection takes a bit of bravery, and it’s taken me a while to muster the mental fortitude to commit and be excited to put my art out into the world, no matter the reception.

My goal for my art is that it will bless you or someone else in some way whether it be by bringing joy to your life or encouraging you to tap into that creative part of yourself that’s been pushed behind the curtain while your busy life takes the stage.

But if I’m really honest, and share all the dreams and ambitions swirling around in my head… WHAT IF my art could impact others’ lives in an even bigger way?

Wouldn’t it be crazy if I could help raise money for causes I believed in, to connect people, or if it could grow in a way to create a flexible and fun way for a few friends to help financially support their families?

It’s scary to put your BHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) out there, and it’s possible that I might never see all the ideas in my head come to fruition, BUT here’s to trying and giving it your best!

Cheers, and thanks for being here, reading this, and giving me the time to pour a little of my heart out to you.

Your support is what keeps my dream alive!
